The 2004 INTERREG IIIC Partner Search Forum brought together nearly 900 people from regions across the enlarged Europe.
Held in Berlin on 8 and 9 March, the meeting was open to all local and regional authorities wanting to build partnerships with other Regions under the INTERREG IIIC programme.
The enthusiasm for cooperation between regions from across the enlarged EU was marked, with over 100 interregional projects on display in an open exhibition, animated discussions and an inter-participant messaging system in constant use.
After a welcome from Volkmar Strauch, State Secretary for Economic Affairs in the Berlin Senate, participants met potential partners, shared ideas, and found out more about INTERREG IIIC and its funding opportunities.
With the opening up of the European Regional Development Fund to acceding countries in January 2004, the European Commission DG REGIO Director's Elisabeth Helander drew attention to the challenges and opportunities of interregional cooperation in an enlarged Europe. Delegates heard about the future of EU regional policy and the implications for INTERREG IIIC applications.
Thematic workshops on the second day of the forum set the scene for project developers to exchange ideas and promote their operations. Many found partners.

The INTERREG IIIC programme aims to improve the effectiveness of regional development policies and instruments,
through the exchange of information and know-how and sharing of experience.
It is part of the INTERREG III European Community Initiative designed
to strengthen economic and social cohesion in the European Union.

Quelques 900 représentants des Régions de l'Europe élargie ont participé au Forum de Recherche de Partenaires INTERREG IIIC 2004.
Organisé à Berlin les 8 et 9 mars, l'évènement s'adressait à toutes les Collectivités locales et régionales souhaitant coopérer avec d'autres Régions dans le cadre du programme INTERREG IIIC.
L'enthousiasme pour la coopération entre Régions de toute l'Europe élargie était marqué, comme en témoignait une exposition de plus que 100 projets interrégionaux, des discussions animées, et un système de mise en relation entre participants en constante utilisation.
Apres un discours de bienvenue de Monsieur Volkmar Strauch, Secrétaire d'État à l'Économie, au Travail et à la Condition féminine du Sénat de Berlin, les participants ont pu identifier des partenaires potentiels, partager des idées et connaître tous les détails du programme INTERREG IIIC, ainsi que ses opportunités de financement.
Le Fonds Européen de Développement Régional est ouvert aux dix nouveaux Etats membres depuis janvier 2004 : Madame Elisabeth Helander, Directrice à la Commission européenne -DG REGIO a attiré l'attention des participants sur les défis et opportunités de la coopération interrégionale dans une Europe élargie. Elle a également évoqué l'avenir de la politique régionale de l'UE et ses implications pour la coopération interrégionale.
Des ateliers thématiques, organisés la deuxième journée, ont permis aux développeurs de projets d'échanger des idées et de promouvoir leurs opérations. Plusieurs d'entre eux y ont trouvé des partenaires.

Les quatre zones de programmation d'INTERREG IIIC
(Nord, Est, Sud, Ouest).
L'objectif général du programme INTERREG IIIC est d'améliorer l'efficacité des politiques et instruments de développement régional
à travers d'échanges d'information et de partage d'expériences. Ce programme s'inscrit dans le cadre de l'Initiative Communautaire INTERREG III, dont le but est de renforcer la cohésion économique et sociale de l'Union européenne.
